QU awarded sponsorship from QNRF for 33 research projects

Qatar University (QU) achieves great success at the 12th cycle of the National Priorities Research Program (NPRP12-S), which is funded by Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) by winning sponsorship for 33 research projects.

The proposals were submitted by 13 various colleges and research centers at QU: one proposal submitted by the Biomedical Research Center, four proposals submitted by the Center of Advanced Materials, six proposals from the College of Arts and Sciences, two proposals from the College of Business and Economics, fourteen proposals from the College of Engineering, one proposal from the College of Medicine, three proposals from the Environmental Science Center, and two proposals from the Qatar Mobility Innovations Center.

From the 33 awarded QU proposals in this cycle, 27 went to applied research, resulting in the highest number of awards. Translational research/experimental development won four awards and basic research won two awards. The objective of the NRPR12-S is to select research projects that will address national priorities through supporting basic and applied research as well as translational research/experimental development with the intention of stimulating relationships between academics and research end-users.
