Under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Qatar University (QU) will host the 7th edition and the 3rd Exhibition of CSR in March 2019.

The theme of this year’s report and exhibition is “Volunteering”, in addition to producing a special report entitled ‘The 21st Century Initiative for Qatar 2022: Qatar's Mission for Peace through Sport’ that will be published in the first quarter of the coming year as part of QU’s partnership with Qatar CSR Network.

Dr. Hassan bin Rashid Al Derham, President of Qatar University, said, “Qatar University is proud to work under the “Volunteering” theme in harmony with the international standards of volunteering in preparation for the coming 2022 FIFA World Cup. Qatar University plays a major role in voluntary work programs that support community participation in the national strategies and programs, especially QNV 2030, and contribute to national initiatives through providing volunteers from the university students to enhance their abilities in various fields and their commitment to social issues.”

Dr. Al Derham added, "Volunteering services integrated into academic curricula and courses promote positive impact of lifelong giving. As volunteering is growing steadily at the national level, we are determined to expand relevant programs and provide opportunities for innovative networking with volunteer groups to engage students in government and private sector experiences.”

Mr. Khalifa Al-Mohannadi, CEO of Qatar CSR network, said: "The previous seasons of the CSR report and exhibition have confirmed the strong interrelationship between community issues and the ability to share knowledge in Qatar. We believe that the coming edition is able to prove volunteering as a positive method for building national human capacity and social involvement. Voluntary work is an important part of the Sustainable Development strategy of QNV 2030.” “Volunteering is recognized as an effective means of imparting skills and understanding between different cultures. It also offers valuable opportunities for young people to work hard, show their leadership skills, and contribute to a healthy society. The youth can also build their capabilities and enhance their job opportunities through information exchange, best practice, research and collaboration across national volunteer and development sectors.” Mr. Al-Mohannadi added.

Dr. Bader Abdullh Al-Esmael, head of CSR committee at Qatar University, said, “Volunteering is a tool for community and youth development. The CSR report and exhibition provide significant opportunities to engage diverse sectors of the society, given that the good support provided to volunteers has a direct impact on their effectiveness and productivity, so QU CSR Committee is keen to design, implement and share excellent practices and training programs in this area.” Dr. Al-Esmael added, “Voluntary work is formally recognized through, certification, academic grades and experience letters. It is considered a professional experience that enables large numbers of graduates to compete successfully for employment, and as a criterion for evaluating education and relevant experience for future careers. We do our best to accumulate lessons learned in order to raise the level of successful volunteer work.”

The report is published by Qatar CSR Network at Qatar University in partnership with Qatar Media Corporation and Qatar Post, and sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (distribution partner to Qatar Embassies around the world). The report has achieved an unsurpassed success to become the annual national CSR book, with the contribution of ministers, ambassadors and leading figures, and sponsored by the major institutions. The report also gives the CSR Person of the Year Award.
