QU hosts 12th Career Fair

Qatar Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs H.E. Dr Issa Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi yesterday honored the inauguration ceremony of Qatar University (QU) 12^th Career Fair.

Organized by QU Career Services Center (CSC), the event, which will be held on March 5-8, aims to provide high school and university students with the opportunity to meet and interact with employers and representatives of companies to seek employment, training and sponsorship opportunities.

The event was inaugurated by H.E. Dr Issa Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi and QU Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr Omar Al-Ansari in the presence of French Ambassador to Qatar H.E. Eric Chevallier, and QU officials, deans, department heads and students. It is open to QU male (March 5-6) and female (March 7-8) students. The event features over 75 information booths from government and private organizations. Students will have the opportunity to interact with employers, and get an insight into the labor market’s needs and employers’ expectations as well as the various training services and internships they can follow to develop their skills, abilities, and professional experience. They will also get the chance to explore 1700 employment opportunities, 400 internships and 60 academic sponsorships.

H.E. Dr Issa Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi said: “I would like to thank Qatar University for organizing the career fair. This event contributes to raising student awareness on the labor market’s needs, whether in the private or the public sector. At the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, we offer the government scholarship program for high school students, which provides them with sponsorship and then with employment opportunities. Additionally, the ministry’s Department of National Human Resources Development serves to provide Qatari nationals with employment opportunities at the private and public sectors.”

QU Assistant Vice President for Student Success and Development Mrs Haya Al- Attiyah said: “The QU Career Fair aligns with QU’s strategic goals to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship among students and to equip them with the necessary entrepreneurial skills, which will  contribute to driving economic development and diversification in Qatar. In this regard, QU Career Services Center gathered a number of emerging companies and business incubators to raise the student awareness about entrepreneurship and its impact on the country’s sustainable development.”
