The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Student Branch at Qatar University (QU IEEE SB) and IEEE Qatar Section recently hosted the IEEE Day 2017 under the theme “Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow”.
The event aimed to commemorate the day when engineers from across the world gathered for the first time to share their technical ideas in 1884. Attendees included QU College of Engineering (CENG) Electrical Engineering Department Head Dr Nasser Al Emadi and CENG Computer Science and Engineering Department Head and IEEE Qatar Section Head Dr Sumaya Al-Maadeed, as well as CENG faculty and students.
The event’s program included entertaining activities such as short quizzes and interesting science questions. The activities were followed by presentations delivered by CENG Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering and Student Branch Counselor Dr Nizar Zorba, Texas A&M University at Qatar Assistant Research Scientist Dr Mohamed Trabelsi and Qatar Army Forces Technology Expert Dr Mohamed Chaari. They presented respectively on “Introducing the QU IEEE SB and their activities”, “The 12th International Conference on Compatibility, Power Electronics and Power Engineering that will be held in Doha on April 10-12, 2018” and “How to turn an idea into a successful invention”.
In her remarks, Dr Sumaya Al-Maadeed said: “All participants today are excited to share their experience and exchange their skills in this interesting gathering in the presence of students and faculty members.
