The Center for Volunteerism and Community Service at Qatar University (QU) yesterday launched the 2nd edition of the “I Relief” campaign in collaboration with Qatar Charity.

The campaign, which will engage over 150 male and female volunteers from various colleges within QU, is part of an agreement signed in July 2016 between the two institutions. It aims to raise community awareness on the role of youth and university students in volunteering activities that serve humanitarian issues.

The campaign will run during this month. It includes the restoration of a school in Syria by QU students, and a wide range of charity events on and outside QU campus. It also includes workshops and training sessions on various areas such as volunteerism, project management, teamwork, communication skills, and more. Commenting on the campaign, QU Student Services & Activities Director Mr Abdulla Al-Yafei said: “We, at QU, are keen to engage our students in community service activities to build a healthy learning environment based on research, planning and student leadership. The “I relief’ campaign will contribute to providing our students with numerous opportunities to invest their skills and knowledge and to serve community needs.”

Programs Director at Qatar Charity Executive Department for Local Development Mr Nasser Al Megheiseb said: “We are delighted to launch the 2nd edition of the “I relief” campaign, as a result of our solid partnership with Qatar University. Through this initiative, we provide youth with ultimate volunteering opportunities that unlock their potential and help them contribute to the restoration of a school in Syria and apply their theoretical and practical knowledge in humanitarian relief.”
