The Biomedical Research Center at Qatar University (QU-BRC) will organize a workshop on “Emerging Pathogens at the Human-Animal-Environment Interface” on October 11-12 in conjunction with Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF).
The 2-day event aims to provide ministry representatives and professionals within Qatar and beyond an opportunity to network and develop collaborative activities, and to share up-to-date scientific research findings, a “One Health” training and outreach model systems against environmental infectious diseases (EID).
Discussions will focus on the establishment of a global knowledge-sharing platform, the various activities of the International Congress on Pathogens at the Human Animal Interface (ICOPHAI), and the procedures for organizing a global conference in Doha in 2017. The workshop comes in line with Qatar’s efforts to prevent and control the emerging of human, animal and environmental infectious diseases. It is developed among global partners including QU, Ohio State University, and ICOPHAI, as well as other local, regional and global partners.
BRC Assistant Professor of Infectious Diseases Dr Hadi Yassine said: “This workshop (AGI-02-P6) is a Category 1 - Accredited Group Learning Activities as defined by the Accreditation Department of Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners. It is also approved for a maximum of 10.25 credit hours for all topics.”
